LOWELL, Mass. - September 17, 2007 - Tyco Electronics announced today that its M/A-COM business, a worldwide leader of critical radio communications systems, introduced the MASTR V ("Master Five") digital base station to power secure digital trunked radio communications via Project 25. The MASTR V continues the quality reputation of the M/A-COM MASTR series of repeaters and supports the 700 MHz frequency band. In combination with M/A-COM's mobile (M7300) and portable (P5400) terminal offerings the MASTR V provides the world's first combined base station/terminal migration path from P25 Phase I to P25 Phase II.
"As the needs of radio communications networks expand, the MASTR V base station is an example of the new M/A-COM products and services that will meet and exceed the communication requirements of the 21st-century user. The MASTR V employs an easy-to-use interface that provides flexibility, a simplified setup and easy field upgrades as well as remote programming," said Dwane Hartmann, manager, Site Products, Tyco Electronics. "The innovative design of the new base station enables a site to be deployed quickly, easily and most importantly, affordably. The MASTR V provides the flexibility to commission a base station that will meet critical communication needs today and into the future."
The MASTR V incorporates P25IP digital voice and data using a digital signal processor for maximum design flexibility. The MASTR V enables IP voice and data packets to be sent over a M/A-COM P25IP VIDA network and be received at the base station. This setup enables all of the advantages of M/A-COM's IP-based VIDA technology platform including:
- Seamless integration of off-the-shelf IP data applications
- Easy interconnection of peripherals and ancillary equipment such as mobile data terminals, printers, scanners and video devices for user organizations
- Economical routing and backhaul of network data
- Redundancy benefit of distributed IP architecture, one of the key requirements for most public safety users
The M/A-COM VIDA network platform is a cost-effective, IP-based interoperable radio communications technology that supports P25 and other IP-based systems. It provides a full IP management platform including interoperability without intervention of console operators; IP consoles; networking technology for both the P25 Phase I and P25 Phase II standards; plus, many other benefits inherent in open IP architecture systems.
